gerry richardson's big idea

The Hammond organ is one of the most exciting sounds in jazz. This dynamic band explores the jazz organ genre to the full. Soul, Gospel, Funk, Swing and Samba are all part of the mix.  Add to that a collection of accessible original tunes, many of which were written as tributes to some of the legendary jazz and soul musicians who have inspired Gerry through his career and you have an unbeatable format for a great nights' music.

Gerry has had a full and eventful career both as an accomplished musician and as a composer. He has a wealth of experience in all styles of music, which has led to him being involved with some of the biggest names in both jazz and rock. Gigs have included work with The Police, Billy Ocean, Guy Barker, John Miles, Chris Hunter, Ian Shaw, in fact Gerry played organ on Sting's 1996 million-selling album 'Mercury Falling'. All of this experience has culminated in the formation of 'The Big Idea' his most exciting and ambitious band to date.

The 'Big Idea' has evolved out of Gerry's very successful trio that features Gerry on Hammond Organ, Gary Linsley saxophone and Paul Smith drums. The trio is still at the heart of The 'Big Idea' and to it Gerry has added a list of very accomplished musicians, each one has been hand-picked to help Gerry realise his vision and to bring their own individual flavours to the music.
